Molly Deckart has spent the last 15 years working in fine arts, the film industry, and festival production. Her mission in each of these areas has been to advocate for and increase the exposure of emerging filmmakers. Her background as both an artist and as a producer has given her a unique understanding of both the challenges and rewards that come with a successful project.
On the festival scene, she is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Idaho Horror Film Festival, now heading into its seventh season as Idaho’s most loved Halloween event. IHFF aims to provide support for Idaho filmmakers and encourages collaboration on projects throughout the country. Adrienne King of Friday the 13th has named her the “Horror Queen” but she is still afraid of things that go bump in the night.
In addition to her creative work, she is a committed advocate of the arts community. As the Director of Boise Film Foundation, she helps educate filmmakers about the benefits of utilizing a fiscal sponsorship model to fund new film projects and mentors them on how best to navigate the program. She produces a lounge at Sundance Film Festival each year that highlights the films, music, and craft spirits hailing from the Mountain West.
